Another little Cutie!

Two sweet girls in one session....how lucky am I? This adorable little one was a bit of a challenge. - she's a little on the shy side and she spent a good part of the day sizing me up and deciding just how much cooperation she felt like giving. :) Finally, the smile came out when her mom got creative and threw her shoes. Hey - whatever works!

Sitting on the tree stump was kind of fun, too.

And the word on the street is that she was compensated for all her hard work with french fries. Gotta love it!

Mini-Sessions Coming to Fayette!

You're excited....I can tell. ;) So here's the general mini-session information you're just dying to get your hands on...

When? Saturday, October 24th
How Much? The mini-session fee will be $25, payable at the time of your appointment.
But...WHEN? First session will be scheduled for 10:00, with following sessions set @ 45 min. intervals.
Where? Harrison Lake State Park
But...WHERE? We'll meet up in the parking lot near the rangers' station & wander from there! If you need directions or clarification, I'll be happy to hook you up.
Who? Weird question, but let's roll with it. Groups of 5 or fewer members of an IMMEDIATE FAMILY. An additional fee of $10/person will be applied to groups with more than 5.

Other general information: You can expect to have 8-12 proofs to choose from at the end of your session. Due to time constraints, wardrobe changes will not be allowed. In the event of inclement weather, an attempt will be made to reschedule the mini-sessions, however there is no guarantee that the session will take place prior to the holidays. Session proofs will be available for viewing online 10 days to 2 weeks after the completion of the sessions. Orders must be placed and payment received in full prior to November 28th to guarantee delivery in time for Christmas.

SO, if you're interested in a session please call, e-mail, or message me on FB ASAP. You'll be given the choice of available times, so the earlier you call the better the chances of getting the time you want! I look forward to hearing from you!

Something Different

More and more clients have been asking about collages & storyboards using images from their sessions. Questions about everything from what sizes they're available in to how many photographs can be used on one piece to whether or not the images from their specific session will work well in a collage or storyboard format. I hope to be able to clear up some of those questions for you all today!

First, storyboards.... A storyboard is a group of 2, 3, or 4 images set onto a 10x20 background. Storyboards are priced at $110. Not only are they a great way to highlight more than one photo in one print, they work well in places where you may not generally think of putting a portrait. Storyboards are great in kids' bedrooms, or in places where a traditionally sized print might look awkward.

Collages, like storyboards, are a great way to showcase more than one photograph in one print. Priced at $125, collages can include anywhere from 2 to 12 images of your choice arranged on a 20x20 background. There is potential for a storyboard or collage from pretty much every session. Either using photos of the same subject at different perspectives (as in the storyboard above), or using images containing varying groups of people from the same session, as in the example below.
In the next example, 11 photos were chosen for a collage. To fill in the blank space and even the collage out visually, I used the family's last initial and name to put together a simple design for the last square.

As you can see in the examples, storyboards & collages are available with a key word and definition as part of the print. You have your choice of the following: miracle, family, happiness, perfection, boy, girl, adore, wonder, love, delightful, play, giggle, joy, & loud. The definitions for these are available upon request, and of course you can choose not to use the additional word art at all, or have a favorite saying or quote placed on the piece instead. It's entirely up to you!
So there you have it! I hope I've answered all of the questions that have been tossed at me over the last little while. Any more questions? Feel free to ask me in the comments here or shoot me an e-mail at sarah@sarahpetriephotography.com

A New Look

I've been debating about moving the blog, but dread the whole process, so instead I decided to make the existing blog a little spiffier. Whatcha think?

Little Cutie!

OK, so how *cute* is she?

Adorable, right? Even when she's pouting...

And there's definitely no shortage of personality, either. ;)

Oh, yeah - and her cousin tagged along for the session, too, so there's more cuteness soon to come! :)

Click!

Guys are notoriously not all that enthused about having their senior pictures taken - it's usually a "mom made me do it" situation, and this was no different. To say I was nervous about doing my first ever senior session....for a guy....who I'd never met before....and who's mom is a friend of my mom's....yeah, nervous doesn't quite cover it. But, I have to say, Zac made it SO easy on me. Things just sort of clicked.

Yes, he looks serious - but honestly, I don't think I have *ever* laughed so hard or had so much fun on a session. THANKS for making it easy for me, Zac! :)
